Healthy Kids Food Heroes

Fact: Children today are more overweight than ever before. According to the Surgeon General, the rate of obesity in children has doubled in the last 20 years. Twenty percent of school kids are obese, not just overweight. Sadly, many of these children will go on to become obese adults.

In response to parents’ concerns about high fat and/or sugar items on children’s menus, we asked restaurants in our county to take our Healthy Kids Menu challenge. By changing or adding just a few items on children’s restaurants menus, kids have healthier choices to make when dining out with their families.

Restaurants that took our challenge and added healthy items to their kids menus or that already had healthy choices available for kids are listed here.
