In most cases, MRC volunteer training will focus on how the local emergency response systems work, familiarity with the community response plan and community resources and partnerships. As a volunteer, you will also be notified when disaster drills are planned so that you may participate.
Medical professionals will already know how to perform many of the medical and health functions that will be needed during a large-scale emergency.
Opportunities for training in basic disaster response, safety, volunteer leadership and other important skills are available, such as Overview of Public Health System, CPR, FEMA classes, and Emergency Preparedness Awareness.
