This site provides information regarding public health sponsored H1N1 flu vaccine clinics scheduled within this county. Please understand there may be a wait time associated with obtaining vaccine at these clinics.
Who should receive the vaccine first? For those initial vaccination efforts, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified five target groups whose members are at higher risk for influenza or influenza-related complications, are likely to come in contact with influenza viruses as part of their occupation and could transmit influenza viruses to others in medical care settings, or are close contacts of infants less than 6 months of age (who are too young to be vaccinated). Those target population groups are:
pregnant women,
persons who live with or provide care for infants less than 6 months of age (e.g., parents, siblings, and daycare providers),
health-care and emergency medical services personnel as defined in the MMWR ( http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/rr58e0821a1.htm )
persons aged 6 months to 24 years, and
persons aged 25 to 64 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications
Who Should Not Be Vaccinated? Some people should not be vaccinated without first consulting a physician. They include:
People who have a severe allergy to chicken eggs.
People who have had a severe reaction to an influenza vaccination in the past.
People who developed Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) within 6 weeks of getting an influenza vaccine previously.
Children less than 6 months of age (influenza vaccine is not approved for use in this age group).
People who have a moderate or severe illness with a fever should wait to get vaccinated until their symptoms lessen.
If you have questions about whether you should get a flu vaccination, consult your healthcare provider.
